INSTRUCTORS 

RSU holds a high standards for our instructors inside and outside of the gym. Each one of these individuals contributes tremendously to the disciplines, principles, and values that make up RSU. 

 

Head Coach Mark Messer 

The Messer name was first established during Coach Messer's management of his former wife, whose professional career was managed in its entirety by Mark. Kim "FIREBALL" Messer has a worldwide reputation as one of the best "Pound for Pound" women in Kickboxing and Professional Boxing history. Competing in Europe, Asia and throughout the United States, she has won Three World Titles in Eurasian-style Kickboxing and was also the I.F.B.A. World Atom Jr. Flyweight Boxing Champion.

Thad Kittelson

Thad Kittelson is a long time friend and training partner of Coach Foster who has been around since the beginning of the Pacific Northwest BJJ scene. He displays an attention to detail which shows through to everyone that he teaches. Thad currently runs Foster BJJ's affiliate program at Ring Sports United in Bellevue on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm.

Thad holds the rank of 1st Degree Black Belt under Coach Foster and Professor Giva Santana.

Lamont Nelson 

Lamont is a former World-Class power lifter with over 18 years in the fitness industry during which time; he owned and operated his own fitness club. He has been both an ACE and NSCA certified trainer as well as having been a competitor himself, Lamont has coached and trained competitive and world-class athletes in the sports of Body Building, Power Lifting, Submission Grappling and MMA.He is currently a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Giva Santana through James Foster and Thad Kittelson. Lamont leads the Friday “No Gi” Submission Grappling Class on Fridays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.  Lamont is the owner and promoter of KYS Promotions “Proving Grounds Grappling and Submission Tournament”. You can also see Lamont at local Amateur and Professional Mixed Martial Arts or the UFC (when it’s in town) operating as the Chief of Officials for Judges

Tigran Bagdasaryan 

Tigran Bagdasaryan has been training with Ring sports United since he was 13 years old and has been a successful competitor in Amateur Boxing, Kick Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts ( MMA) and both Gi and No Gi Jiu Jitsu tournaments . He is currently a Blue Belt under Giva Santana ( One Jiu Jitsu) through James Foster and Thad Kittelson. Tigran is an extremely technical and proficient boxing coach who lives up to the Ring Sports standard. He is available for private lessons and can be reached through Ring Sports United.

German Sosa

German Sosa began Boxing at Ring Sports United and went all the way to a Golden Gloves Championship in the 152 Pound Division! German now coaches at his own Ring Sports Affiliate Club in Silver Lake WA and works tirelessly as he takes our Amateur Boxers on Road Trips to get sparring with the other local clubs from one end of Puget Sound to the other!

Pete Edwards 

Pete "The British Bulldog" Edwards who was born in the UK, has been involved in Soccer, Boxing and Coaching for most of his life.

We are lucky to have him here with us in the US at Ring Sports United as a USA Boxing Coach, Referee and Judge.

You can catch Pete in the club almost any evening from Monday to Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Pete is the "Gate Keeper" for the Advanced to Intermediate Students who wish to progress into the full sparring sessions.  

Pete can also be found in the corner when RSU fighters are on a local USA Boxing Event.  

He has contributed significantly to the evolution and growth of RSU over many years.
